The Sustainable Agriculture team continues training farmers from Cabañas and Cuscatlán on modes of production that don’t harm health or nature. This time they traveled to Suchitoto, where the communities of San Antonio, El Sitio, Celina Ramos, Milingo, Palo Grande, and El Roble participated in the training.

Suchitoto has been part of ADES’ Organic Agriculture School for two years. The educational space is divided into eight separate workshops, where farmers learn production techniques to cultivate organic grains and vegetables.

In the most recent workshop, the agriculturists learned about ground conservation and practices to promote sustainable use of the land. They practiced how to use a “Level A,” an instrument that helps to measure contours, determine the slope, and thereby determine where to place ditches and live/dead barriers.

Ana Isabel Rodríguez, producer from Milingo said that the workshop helped her strengthen some of her skills. “For me, it has been important because I didn’t know how to use the ‘level A’ and now I have already learned how to use it, how to make live and dead barriers, and we can do it with the whole family,” commented Isabel.
