With joy we share that the law prohibiting mining, which was approved unanimously in the Legislative Assembly on March 29, was published in the Official Records. This means that it is already valid law, and must be respected and complied with.

This law, which has been demanded for 12 years, lays out in the first article the complete prohibition of metallic mining. “Article 1- The following law has the objective of prohibiting metallic mining in the soil and subsoil of the Republic’s territory.”

Now we can fully say, “mission accomplished.” We are left with the task of raising awareness in communities, thereby guaranteeing their defense and protection.
